GE WattStation is the result of an innovative and dynamic collaboration between GE Ecomagination and fuseproject. Our vision for the WattStation is an electric car charger design that is as durable as street furniture, as visible as a light beacon, and as beautiful as street greenery. The charger station boasts a power recharge in less than half of the time of its competitors. We hope it will change the way people use and see electric vehicles.
A major problem with charging stations today is that its easy (and common) for the cable to be stollen or vandalized, so naturally we proposed a design winds and locks the cable inside the body of the station. Coupled with an intuitive and friendly interface, the Wattstation is always prepared to greet its users.
My task with fuseproject on this program was concept generation and development. I was responsible for the initial bloom guesture and component layout that became the signature look of GE electric vehicle supply equipment.
